Doug brought a photo of the house to show people that he was neighbors with Elvis when he boarded a train to Newport, RI to begin his naval career. But Doug soon discovered he was on the same train with Elvis, who was bound for New York. Presley was avoiding planes after a scary flight the year before that emergency landed due to mechanical problems. Doug obtained this in person from Elvis, who added Thanks! to his autograph. The photo was creased horizontally below the signature and repaired with cellophane tape, which barely covers the bottom loop of the E in Elvis. The last zero in the upside down photo developer code 300K is touched just barely by the tail of the y in Presley. The photo also has typical discoloration for its age and very minor spotting.
